Flachstahl Werl

Flachstahl Werl expands its facilities with a third slitting line (LCL) with coil strapping from Fagor Arrasate. The high performance and flexibility of this equipment have enabled this service center to increase its annual capacity to 650,000 tons and thus become a leader in the German market.

This new slitting line, one of the most modern in Europe, incorporates the most advanced technology and all available automations, which allows it to reach very high productivity levels and, at the same time, to comply with the most demanding surface quality standards, as it is able to adapt to the difficulties of working delicate material with thicknesses from 0.3 to 6 mm.

The new equipment, thanks to its different tensioning systems, enables Flachstahl Werl to process and cut material at high rates and with the quality required for the automotive market. In particular, it incorporates a belt tensioning system and a felt press tensioner for different types of steel.

This premium line achieves high productivity levels thanks to the extensive use of automations that shorten tool change and machine set-up times, while reducing manual operations to a minimum, which also improves ergonomics and operator safety. In this sense, both the change of the cutting tooling and the position of the separators are carried out automatically.

This automation is complemented with automatic edge pickers and the most complete and fastest strapping line, which allows to introduce coil and receive cut and strapped straps with almost no operator intervention. In terms of electronics, the equipment is equipped with the most advanced Fagor Arrasate line control software, which allows precise and intuitive operation.

The other two slitting lines previously supplied are also characterized by their high flexibility and productivity to be able to adapt to the different needs of a service center. Both offer the highest quality slitting, rewinding and banding, and are capable of processing delicate materials without leaving surface marks.

The new Flachstahl Werl line benefits from the 2017 opening of Fagor Arrasate’s new after-sales service plant in Hilpoltstein, Germany, which allows it to offer its service near its customers.
