FFagor Arrasate has signed an exclusive agreement with KUKA Systems

Fagor Arrasate has signed an exclusive agreement with KUKA Systems for producing innovative automation systems for robot press lines.

 

KUKA is the world’s third-largest robot manufacturing company. This German firm was founded in 1898 and is based in Augsburg. It consists of two companies: KUKA Robotics, where the robots are produced, and KUKA Systems, which specialises in automation engineering for the automotive, aero-space and renewable energy sectors. Fagor has signed the alliance agreement with this latter sector. FAGOR ARRASATE is one of the world’s leading companies in the design and supply of mechanical and hydraulic presses.

 

Continuous transfer mode on a FAGOR press line enables the presses to work non-stop at top dead centre (start-stop system), which increases their output and reduces their linear slide speed, thus improving the quality of the parts produced. This is achieved by providing the presses with a longer stroke, shortening the distance between them, and using an ultra-fast robot developed by KUKA. Smart electric management of the lines allows press-robot synchronisation and a major increase in output with respect to traditional systems. Other additional advantages are more balanced consumption and less maintenance requirements.

 

The alliance concluded between the two companies is twofold: technical collaboration between KUKA and FAGOR for innovation in press-to-press part transfer systems, and a business relationship that has taken its first major step forward with the joint exhibition of our two companies at the Feria BlechExpo Trade Fair held in Stuttgart in the first week of December, where the alliance for developing this innovation was announced.

 

The agreement represents an advancement in both technology and image for its customers, and represents consolidation in automation and integrated solutions.

The two companies, both sector leaders, are competing with a big advantage in the high-speed field and providing clear competitive advantages with respect to other firms.
